Holiday Parade set for December 2

 

Piqua’s business community, civic organizations, non-profits, churches and other interested groups are all invited to participate in the annual Downtown Piqua Holiday Parade to be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2006.  The theme for the parade is ‘A Victorian Christmas Card’.  The annual downtown Piqua Holiday Parade is sponsored by Tom Walter Allstate Insurance and Bill McVety Realty.  

The parade is a part of the Christmas Experiences in Piqua weekend which is made up of Christmas on the Green on Friday, December 1 from 6 – 9 p.m., the Holly Jolly 5K Run to be held on Saturday, December 2 at 10 a.m. and Christmas on the Farm to be held at Johnson Farm. The Victorian Christmas displays, located on the second floor of Apple Tree Gallery, 405 N. Main Street, will also be open during the “Holiday Experiences” weekend.

Mainstreet Piqua is still accepting nominations for be the grand marshal of the Downtown Piqua Holiday Parade.  If you know of someone, or an organization, worthy of the ceremonial honor please send a letter of nomination to Mainstreet Piqua at PO Box 1703, Piqua, OH  45356.  Nomination letters will be accepted through November 10, 2006.  For more information please call Mainstreet Piqua at 773-9355.  Nominations can also be emailed to info@mainstreetpiqua.com. 

There is no charge to participate in the downtown Piqua Holiday Parade and everyone is invited to participate.  Each group participating in the parade will receive a commemorative plaque in honor of their participation.  Applications for the Downtown Piqua Holiday Parade are available from either the Mainstreet Piqua office or the Piqua Area Chamber of Commerce at 326 N. Main Street or by calling 773-9355.  The application deadline for the parade is Wednesday, November 22, 2006.
