Bicentennial Calendars Now Available

The Piqua Bicentennial Committee is absolutely thrilled with it’s newest project and feel that Piqua citizens will be proud too!  The Piqua Bicentennial 18-month calendar is now available and features twenty-one rarely seen historical Piqua pictures.  The calendar runs from October 2006 through March of 2008 with each month featuring a different historical picture.  The photos are from the archives of the Local History Department at the Flesh Public Library and in many cases this is the first time the pictures have been seen by the general public.  The calendar includes photos of downtown parades, the Miami-Erie Canal, the Medalist factory prior to the construction of the levy system and Hollow Park.  The calendar also has pictures of early Piqua life including workers at the Hartzell Propeller factory making wooden propellers and operators at the Piqua telephone exchange.   The calendar can be purchased for $10 and is available at Readmore’s Hallmark, 430 N. Main Street and Apple Tree Gallery, 405 N. Main Street.

The proceeds from the sale of the calendar will be invested in the Piqua Bicentennial activities in 2007.  For information on the Piqua Bicentennial Calendar please call Mainstreet Piqua at 773-9355.
