Johnston Farm and Mainstreet Piqua Team up again
for Holiday Events

The Piqua Historical Area State Memorial and Mainstreet Piqua are once again teaming up to present a full weekend of “Christmas Experiences in Piqua.” The activities are slated for the first weekend in December.  The activities slated include Christmas on the Farm at the Johnston Farm, Christmas on the Green, the Downtown Piqua Holiday Parade, the Holly Jolly 5K Run and Victorian Christmas in downtown Piqua.

This is the third year the two organizations have teamed up to jointly promote their activities.  Johnston Farm’s Andy Hite says the partnership with Mainstreet Piqua makes a lot of sense “With our activities on the farm, along with those events slated for downtown Piqua, there is no reason to leave our community for a wonderful variety of holiday experiences. We have it all right here.”

On Friday, December 1 the Mainstreet Piqua Christmas on the Green event will happen from 6 – 9 p.m. throughout downtown Piqua.  The event will include the traditional carriage rides, community caroling, children’s activities and costumed characters.

On Saturday, December 2 the Ohio Historical Society and the Piqua Historical Area State Memorial will once again host its annual holiday event Christmas on the Farm with Charles Dickens at the John Johnston Farmhouse.   Advance Reservations are required for this event. Reservations will be accepted as long as tickets are available.

The third annual Holly Jolly 5K run will take place at 10 a.m. on Saturday, December 2.  The run will begin and end at the Municipal Government Complex.  Applications for the run are available at Mainstreet Piqua.

Also on Saturday, December 2 the Downtown Holiday Parade will step off from the corner of Main and North Streets at 2:00 p.m. and make its way south on Main Street to High Street and then proceed on High to Downing Streets.  The theme of the Holiday Parade this year will be ‘A Victorian Christmas Card.’

Also following the same theme will be the Victorian Christmas on the second floor of Apple Tree Gallery, 405 N. Main Street.  The Victorian Christmas exhibit features beautiful holiday displays put together by area artists, florists, interior designers, merchants and individuals.  The displays will open to the public on Tuesday, November 28 and wrap up on Sunday, December 10.  The event is free and open to the public.
